At Selworthy School, we believe in honouring those who shape our community—and few people have left a mark as deep as Jayne, who dedicated over 37 years to our school with warmth, care, and unwavering commitment.
To celebrate Jayne’s incredible legacy, learners and staff came together to organise a heartfelt fundraising events at both Oakhill and Hazelbrook, raising money for St Margaret’s Hospice, a cause close to Jayne’s heart. What unfolded was a day full of joy, creativity, and unforgettable teamwork.
🌟 Stalls That Shone Brightly
The event was packed with exciting learner-led stalls, each one a testament to the creativity and skills of our school community:

🥤 Drinks Stand – All drinks were handmade by learners, from fruity iced tea to refreshing lemonades—served with smiles and great customer service.

🍰 Cake Stall – A mouth-watering spread of cakes and bakes prepared with love.

🌱 Plant Stall – Beautiful sunflowers and plants grown by our talented Landscape Vocational Group.

🎯 Games Galore – From Noughts and Crosses to a Human Fruit Machine (run with energy and laughter by our learners), the games were buzzing all afternoon.

🌭 Hot Dog Stand – Cooked, served and managed by our learners—this was a highlight that kept people coming back for seconds.
💛 More Than Just a Fundraiser
The day wasn’t just about raising money. It was about building confidence, gaining real-life experience and working together for something meaningful. Every smile, every sale, and every cheer from the crowd echoed Jayne’s spirit of kindness and inclusion.
🎉 A Phenomenal Success
Thanks to the amazing efforts of learners, staff, families and friends, the entire fundraising campaign—including the event, raffles and the Spuds Enterprise that week —raised over £2,160 for St Margaret’s Hospice.
This celebration in Jayne’s memory reminded us that legacy lives not only in what we say, but in what we do—and what we did was truly special.
