Parent Support – PFSA
What is a PFSA?
Parent and Family Support Advisers (PFSAs) work in schools across Somerset to support children, parents, carers and families. They work closely with school staff and other agencies to help improve children’s participation, wellbeing and learning.
The core purpose of the PFSA role is to respond early when a child or family may benefit from additional support, ensuring challenges are addressed before they become bigger barriers.
Aims of a PFSA
PFSAs are here to:
-
Support parents and carers in a friendly, non‑judgemental way
-
Strengthen communication between home and school
-
Improve pupil attendance, engagement and achievement
-
Ensure families are aware of services and agencies that can offer further help
-
Encourage parents and carers to take an active role in their child’s education and school community
